Sydney Contemporary Internship Application

Thank you for your interest in interning at Sydney Contemporary, Australasia’s premier Art Fair.

The five-day event from the 10 – 14 September 2025 (10 September, Invitation-only Collector Preview), is the annual pre-eminent meeting place for the Australian art world. Featuring a varied program of activities that platforms the highest quality contemporary art, emergent practices, and topical issues, the Fair attracts a vast array of art collectors, art lovers and institutional professionals.

The Sydney Contemporary internship offers students with a range of skills and interests the opportunity to experience, learn from, and assist with Marketing, VIP relations, and Operations activities in the lead-up to and during the Fair.

Essential Prerequisites

Availability

  • 2 days a week leading up to the Fair (early-July to mid-September). Days can be flexible.
  • Every day the week of the Fair, Monday 8th – Sunday 14th September 2025 (essential)

Skills

  • Study in any of the following: Arts, Event Management, Marketing, PR, or any related fields
  • High level of communication skills, spoken and written English
  • Competent computer skills with preferred knowledge in Microsoft Office, WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator. (Desirable)
  • Good knowledge of social media
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Keen interest in and/or knowledge of contemporary art
  • You must be a student and over 18 years old to apply

Role Summary

Tasks may include, but not limited to:

  • Social Media Support: Receiving briefs from Marketing to create or source content for Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook
  • Assisting the Marketing Team with generating weekly Visitor and VIP newsletters, uploading content to Fair’s website, and maintaining digital content.
  • Everyday operations, supporting staff across a variety of tasks, gallery and VIP liaison, website maintenance, industry research (marketing), distribution of marketing collateral and complimentary tickets for sponsors and partners.
  • General admin support including, staff support, answering phone calls and emails.
  • Onsite Ticket Office: Assisting with front of house duties, such as greeting patrons, answering guest queries, scanning, and registering guests at the door
  • Onsite Assistance: To staff, galleries, and Box Office during bump-in and across the Fair

A stipend will be provided to cover daily travel costs.
