Art Night, the opening celebration of Sydney Contemporary, presents an all-encompassing evening of art and culture! Catch performances throughout the evening, hear a special DJ set, explore large-scale artworks in Installation Contemporary, and of course see and buy works of art by over 500 emerging and established artists across 100+ galleries.
Performance by Dr Christian Thompson AO
Christian Thompson AO’s music is a haunting synthesis of Bidjara heritage and classical tradition—an intimate sound world shaped by ancestral memory and operatic depth. Drawing on his Aboriginal Australian heritage and European classical training, his compositions weave traditional rhythms, pop sensibilities, and layered vocals into lush sonic tapestries that explore identity, language, and cultural hybridity. Carla Uriarte will present a curated DJ set at Sydney Contemporary 2025. Carla has an undisputed talent in transferring sonic vibrations to the body mind and soul. Beginning her DJ career in 2010 playing small bars in Madrid, Spain, she has carried her diverse range of freaky dance electronica, synth & soul all the way to Sydney’s seas. In addition to Disc Jockeying Carla is a multi disciplinary artist whose practice has a focus on painting, poetry and video.
