Sydney Contemporary transforms Carriageworks into Australia’s most exciting cultural destination for four days each spring. Celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of art, our program presents a showcase of the very best modern and contemporary art, current trends and emergent practices.
Alongside the Fair Sectors, the curated program presents over 200 events across the Fair period, including the highly anticipated Art Night; engaging and lively panel discussions with leading speakers in the fields of art, architecture, design, food, fashion and music; guided tours; educational workshops; artist talks; live performances; and large-scale, ambitious installations. Come for the art, stay for the experience!
Art Night
Sydney’s biggest night of contemporary art returns! Celebrate the opening of the fair on Thursday 3 Sept, 5:30-9pm, with music, performances, bars, dining, and spectacle! A vibrant late-night experience of art and culture at Carriageworks.
Friday Night
Kick off your weekend with a visit to Carriageworks for Friday Night. Enjoy a live DJ set, food and drink pop-ups, and cutting edge contemporary art.
Experience live works that blur the boundaries between art and movement. From intimate interventions to large-scale performances, this dynamic program unfolds throughout the fair.
Encounter ambitious large-scale works, immersive environments and site-specific installations that transform the spaces of Carriageworks. Installation presents some of the most striking and unforgettable experiences.

Gallery Sectors
The main Galleries sector provides a significant platform for curated solo or group exhibitions of new and important work by artists from leading galleries around the world.
Debuted in 2025, Photo Sydney is a major sector dedicated to contemporary photography. Showcasing outstanding works from leading and emerging artists, Photo Sydney is one of the fair’s must-see experiences.

A dynamic platform presenting young galleries or artist run initiatives which have been operating for five years or less, presenting curated solo or duo artist exhibitions of new work.

A fair within the Fair; presented in association with The Print Council of Australia Inc, the dedicated Paper sector showcases the best of national and international contemporary works on paper–watercolours, drawings, artist books, prints and editions.
