Sydney Contemporary, Australasia’s premier art fair, returns to Carriageworks from 3 – 6 September 2026 to present the largest and most diverse gathering of contemporary art galleries in the region. Staged at Carriageworks, Australia’s striking multi- arts venue, the Fair welcomes over 100 exhibitors from Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the USA, and the UK.
Billed as one of the most celebrated events on Australia’s cultural calendar, Sydney Contemporary has established itself as a must-attend art event and the perfect place to discover and collect modern and contemporary art.
Venue
Sydney Contemporary takes place at Carriageworks, a leading contemporary multi-arts institution situated within the vibrant urban cultural precinct of the former Eveleigh Railway Workshops in Redfern, Sydney. Originally spanning 51 hectares (130 acres), the Eveleigh Rail Complex Yards were constructed between 1880 and 1889.

Getting There
Sydney Contemporary is held at Carriageworks in Eveleigh. A short walk from nearby bus and train stations, and a 20-minute drive from Sydney Airport.
Trains
Carriageworks is easily accessible by train. Walk eight minutes from Redfern Station, ten minutes from Macdonaldtown Station or 15 minutes from Newtown Station.

There are bike lanes on nearby streets and bike racks on Wilson Street at the the top of the stairs to Carriageworks, near the main entrance.

Nearest stop is at Codrington Street at City Road, approximately a 5 minute walk to Carriageworks.

Parking
Valet parking will be available for visitors, guests and staff and can be booked through Gieves. Flat rate of $44.00 pre-booked (and pre-paid) per space per day or $55.00 pay-on-arrival. Additional parking may be available at South Eveleigh, 2 Central Avenue, a 15-minute walk to Carriageworks via the Redfern footbridge and Little Eveleigh Street. For more details, visit the South Eveleigh website. We encourage using public transport whenever possible.
Accessibility
Carriageworks is a accessible venue, with a wheelchair ramp and level access at all entrances. Toilets are fully accessible. Wheelchairs and motorised scooters are available for visitors. Please be advised that dogs are not allowed inside Carriageworks, with the exception of accredited service/assistance animals. Please ensure their identification badge or jacket is clearly displayed and that they are always on a leash, harness, or other tether.
