“Once I’ve visited the galleries I know and love, I always return to the Fair guide to make sure that I’ve found all the installations. They take me around Carriageworks and often lead me to galleries I might not otherwise have discovered.”

“I always make a point of discovering the large-scale installations early on and use them as landmarks – “I’ll meet you beside … “ is sometimes easier than trying to remember the aisle number.”

“Don’t be afraid to ask about the price. You’ll find works across every price point, from pieces perfect for a first collection through to major museum-quality works. Everything at the Fair is for sale, and the galleries are always happy to help.”

“Take your time exploring every sector of the Fair. Some of my favourite discoveries have been in the Futures sector, Works on Paper or Photo Sydney. It’s a great way to encounter new artists and find works at a range of price points.”

“The Fair offers a wide range of price points for people interested in acquiring art. There are exceptional entry-level works across the Fair, particularly in sections such as Works on Paper. A key guiding principle is to follow your heart. If you see something you like, ask questions about the work. Often, the stories behind the artwork or the artist will resonate with you.”

“Give yourself time to wander. With more than 100 galleries, you’ll need at least an afternoon. If something keeps drawing you back, it’s probably worth asking about.”
