photo access presents artists Louise Curham and Nicci Haynes in creating a hands-on handmade film space for Kid Contemporary 2026.

This year, Kid Contemporary invites visitors of all ages to create their own 16mm film strip using pens, ink, combs, stickers, stamps and type-writers amongst other tools. Visitors can join a table in the space to make their own film strip in a tactile experience and inspect their handiwork over a lightbox, while also checking out film strips from other community workshops led by Curham and Haynes.

Come and learn from artists Louise Curham and Nicci Haynes about the fun and puzzling principles of direct film making. Scratch, colour and design your own piece of film that will be assembled together and projected in an experimental film screening that can be captured and shared with your phone.

Suitable for all ages: children and adults.

Location: Kid Contemporary, Carriageworks
