Artist Booth Talk: Alfred Lowe, ‘The Stars are Blind’
Alfred Lowe is an Arrernte person from Snake Well in the Central Desert, north of Alice Springs. Alfred grew up in Alice Springs which is where he developed his interest in art, particularly ceramics and sculpture. Alfred started his practice in 2021 and has achieved enormous success over his short career – Winner of the 2024 MA Financial Emerging Artist Award at Sydney Contemporary and 2025 Rigg Prize at the Art Gallery of Victoria.
Join us in the Sabbia booth as Alfred discusses his ceramic and fibre-based practice, exploring identity, land, and the intersection of cultural tradition and the modern world. The Stars are Blind celebrates fate, community, and love. These works stand boldly, brightly, and joyfully, offering a powerful testament to resilience, connection and shared strength.
