This year at Sydney Contemporary, curator Sebastian Goldspink and arts consultant Kade McDonald will lead complementary First Nations Art Tours across the weekend, spotlighting the outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists represented throughout the Fair.
The tours will explore key works while offering deeper insight into the cultural significance, histories and contemporary practices of First Nations artists.
Sebastian Goldspink is a Sydney-based independent curator and proud descendant of the Burramattagal people of Western Sydney. Recently appointed Editor-at-Large for Art Collector, Goldspink is also a judge for this year’s MA Art Prize for emerging artists at Sydney Contemporary.
Kade McDonald is an arts consultant who has worked extensively with Aboriginal arts centres and Indigenous cultural leaders across Australia. McDonald has led cultural maintenance and repatriation projects in collaboration with communities. He was the founding CEO of Agency Projects, and is currently an appointed Expert Examiner of Indigenous Cultural Objects under the Moveable Cultural Heritage Act, as well as a Specialist Advisor in Indigenous Partnerships and Collections for the University of Melbourne.
