Grant’s practice moves fluidly between studio glass and interdisciplinary sculpture, foregrounding the importance of traditional craft skills while pushing the material and conceptual boundaries of contemporary glassmaking. This engaging discussion at Installation Contemporary offers insight into Grant’s latest body of work, which embraces the inherent instability and fluidity of glass as a metaphor for queer embodiment. The installation explores how glass can hold tension, vulnerability, and transformation within its very structure. Grant and Cavaniglia will delve into the ideas, processes, and material investigations shaping this ambitious project.

Join Kohl Tyler as she discusses her art practice, thoughts on using speculative frameworks in ceramics and her series of nebulous hand-built sculptures created especially for Sydney Contemporary.

Kohl Tyler is an Aotearoa/New Zealand-born artist who’s been based in Naarm/Melbourne since 2018. She was a finalist in the National Gallery of Victoria’s Rigg Design Prize in 2025, and will be included in the upcoming NGV Triennial 2026.
