Brian Robinson will discuss two new series of exquisite prints, ‘Abundance of Country’ and the ‘Stargate’ series. Drawing upon Queensland’s natural flora across the Seven Watersheds, ‘Abundance of Country’ is derived from Robinson’s recently unveiled public artwork, ‘Floriate’, situated outside the new Glasshouse Theatre in Brisbane. Continuing this exploration of realms, ‘Stargate 1-3’ positions cosmologies as portals to ancestral time, posing as an invitation for viewers to stand at the threshold where the sky meets the sea and vast systems of collective memory transmit through iconographies of stars, currents and spirit beings.

3 Studios artists will discuss the printmaking processes behind the works on display, from planning and carving to inking and printing. Visitors can handle and explore traditional tools and materials, including Japanese mokuhanga brushes, pigments, barens, blocks, and plates, offering insight into the craft in an increasingly digital world.

In 2026, the Print Council of Australia celebrates its 60th anniversary, marking six decades as the national peak body for printmaking and works on paper. The Print Council of Australia will present a special display showcasing highlights from its extensive collection of Australian printmaking. We will also trace the evolution of IMPRINT magazine, from its beginnings as a simple single-sheet booklet to the high-quality printed publication it is today.
