Gallerysmith
Galleries
Since 2008, Gallerysmith has been a recognised name in the Australian visual arts scene. Over 18 years of operation, the gallery has developed a strong reputation for showcasing artists with international reputations and important mid-career artists while also successfully shaping the careers of emerging practitioners.
We have a particular interest in showcasing the work of marginalised practitioners, namely women, a group whose collective practices have been unfairly overlooked by institutions and collectors. We seek to redress that imbalance by bringing together a group of strong artists whose practices make a substantive difference to the dialogue around contemporary practice. Artists such as Ema Shin, Wilma Tabacco and Gosia Wlodarczak make a significant and enduring contribution to culture and we are working towards increasing their visibility and recognition. In 2026, Ema Shin was selected for the Biennale of Sydney, where her tapestry woven heart sculpture takes centre stage at the Chau Chuk Wing Museum.
