In 2011, Gilbert + Tobin began the development of an art collection that recognises and supports the excellence and innovation of contemporary Indigenous artists. The collection’s focus is on the works of emerging Indigenous artists of all ages and regions, from across Australia and the Torres Strait Islands. This new direction added to the existing collection, including a group of Larrakitj by Yolngu artists from Yirrkala, a selection of paintings by senior desert artists and a group of works by the members of the Lockhart River Art Collective.
