In her inaugural Sydney Contemporary appearance, Amber Hearn’s series ‘My Body Makes Way for You’ captures the anticipation of her daughter’s arrival – speaking to both the emotional and physical shifts within the body. The self-portraits of sorts highlight the complexities of childbirth whilst encapsulating the symbiotic relationship between the pain and beauty of that experience. Initially experienced as landscapes, these portraits capture the same sense of expansion and contractions felt in both spaces. Amber will talk to the composition which presents her as raw, unedited and evolving.
