Performance Contemporary: Agnes Christina

Agnes Christina is a multidisciplinary artist who will present projects The Knot and Lotus Root Never Breaks, examining her experiences as a Chinese Indonesian woman navigating racial stereotypes and changing surroundings. The Knot explores Christina’s journey of learning craft, starting with a knot taught by her mother to ‘tame’ her wild finders. Lotus Root Never Breaks delves into the lives of her female ancestors, inspired by the Chinese saying about unbreakable connections, investigating the diverse experiences of Chinese Indonesian women through their food, clothing and personalities. Christina’s performance is supported by Project Eleven and 16albermarle Project Space.
