Ingvar Kenne’s large-scale photographs move beyond conventional photographic presentation to create an immersive encounter with image, scale and architecture. Installed as a contiguous body, the works from the ongoing series a portrait of [Country] examine how landscape, memory and duration can be experienced physically as much as they can be observed. Here, Kenne’s works operate cinematically, slowing perception and drawing viewers into a sustained experience of presence, distance and atmosphere.

About the Artist
Ingvar Kenne is a Swedish-born artist based in Sydney. His practice moves across image-making, film, and long-form narrative, resisting fixed categorisation in favour of an approach grounded in experience, duration, and encounter. He explores landscape, memory, and portraiture, often using scale and sequence to create immersive encounters that unfold physically in relation to the viewer and the surrounding architecture.

About Installations
Installations presents ambitious contemporary art throughout Carriageworks, and for the first time, extends into the city. The program of 14 projects features sculpture, textiles, painting, photography, kinetic forms, and public interventions, with works that are generous and immediate but also ask us to look more closely at the social, ecological, and cultural systems shaping our world.
Artists use spectacle, material invention and public address to explore some of the defining questions of contemporary life: how histories inhabit place, how images circulate, how materials carry memory, and how audiences gather, move, participate and reflect. Installations is curated by José Da Silva, Director of UNSW Galleries.
