Sarah Ducker’s creative life has evolved through various media, from theatre direction to documentary filmmaking, before finding its most eloquent expression in photography.
Originally completing her high school studies in London, she returned to Australia to study film and television at UTS and went on to complete a postgraduate degree in theatre directing at NIDA.
Jean-Pierre Siméon’s observation that “a poem is where you hear the heartbeat of a stone” is reversed in Sarah’s imagery, where visual clarity meets her emotional acuity.
Through the intimate photographs of the landscape, Sarah explores the silent realm of stillness. Her photographs act as meditations and bring the viewer into a quiet contemplation with the beauty of nature. This quietude of these works sits in contrast to the tumultuous violence of the changing climate that is increasingly impacting our everyday existence.
