Following her recent survey exhibition, Sandra Black: Holding Light at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, Sandra will offer insight into different places that have informed her celebrated ceramic practice.

Join leading Australian art critic and writer John McDonald at Art Collective WA Booth B12 as he discusses the work of George Haynes, one of Western Australia’s most celebrated painters. A contributor to the artist monograph George Haynes: In Search of Painting, John will share his perspective on George’s distinctive use of colour and light, and the landscapes that have shaped his work for more than sixty years.

Join exhibiting artists Nigel Hewitt and Tony Windberg at Art Collective WA Booth B12 as they discuss their approaches to landscape, material and environmental change. Nigel incorporates ash collected from bushfire sites into his Fertile Ground series, embedding the physical residue of fire within works that reflect on regeneration, loss and ecological vulnerability. Tony works across painting and mixed media, using layered pigments, resins and textured surfaces to explore geological time, human intervention and the fragility of the natural world.

With a background across photography, film and art, Adasal’s painting practice explores the interplay of light, space and perception. Join Adasal for a talk about her new body of works that follows a sense of anticipation as it unfolds through the process of painting itself. Searching for a particular moment of resolution where colour, structure and rhythm lock into place, Adasal invites the audience to view the work with the knowledge that moment is never fixed, only approached, and it is this ongoing pursuit within the work.

Experience our immersive “Bringing the Outdoors Indoors” installation, where three distinctive artistic practices come together in a contemplative environment. Encounter Michelle Van Eimeren’s botanical contact prints on silk, created with natural plant pigments and tannins; Talya Brookman’s deeply atmospheric abstract landscapes in oil, inspired by the Australian landscape; and Sophie Lampert’s exquisitely hand-beaded black velvet sculptures, including her Sun Goddess, Moon Goddess and butterfly works.
Each artist will introduce their practice and share the stories, ideas and creative processes behind the works presented at the fair. Discover the inspirations, materials and personal narratives that shape their distinctive artistic voices, followed by an opportunity for audience questions.

Lisa will introduce a selection of handmade artist books; each produced in an edition of five using archival materials and original prints. The talk will explore the Burra books, the longfin eel, and the Water series, considering themes of movement, memory, Country, survival, return, and transformation through print, paper, folding, and binding. It will also highlight how artist books offer an accessible, tactile, and personal way to collect original art.
