Julie and Simon Ford started collecting in the early 1990’s, initially focussing on Australian Indigenous art, when the senior artists of the modern Indigenous art movement were still actively painting, then exploring the works of younger artists who had learned from their Elders. The collection has since expanded to include younger and mid-career artists from Australia, as well as Europe, Asia and Central America, supporting the many artists they have come to know well. The combination of painting, sculpture, video art and photography are an integral part of their home and enrich the daily life of their family. Their passion for collecting has been taken up by all four of their daughters!
