Event Details

Please join respected Yolŋu elder and the winner of the prestigious 2024 Wynne Prize Djakaŋu Yunupiŋu, at the Alcaston Gallery Booth G01, during the VIP Collectors Preview on Wednesday 4 September.
Be amongst the first people to witness Yunupiŋu’s monumental new body of work commissioned especially for the 2024 Sydney Contemporary Art Fair, a collection of commanding celestial monochromatic works across timber board, larrakitj, bark and paper. Balancing immense scale with precise detail, these significant works strewn with stars and misty rain exemplify Yunupiŋu’s breathtaking practice – sublime renditions of the ancestral story of the Djulpan, inherited Yolŋu knowledge relating to the Pleiades ‘Seven Sisters’ constellation as it transits the night sky above East Arnhem Land.

Location: Alcaston Gallery, Booth G01
