Visiting the studio of Linde Ivimey has been likened to walking into a cabinet of curiosities. The 1917 warehouse that houses the artist and her collection of materials and treasures is a unique architectural gem in Erskineville. This has been Ivimeys’ workplace for about a decade and a half producing annual solo exhibitions and commissioned works for Australian and International clients, galleries and museums. Ivimey is well known for her use of recycled materials, often incorporating bone, fibre and skin, primarily that of bird, sheep and fish, into large scale sculptures and small detailed figures. She draws upon many skills from welding to cooking, weaving, wood carving, sewing as well as mould making and casting from her vast bone library.
