Demonstration: The Art of Layering: Chine-Collé
Chunwoo Nam, Tamarind Alumni and founder Print Art Research Centre (PARC), Seoul.
Chine-Colle is a technique, used in conjunction with printmaking processes such as etching or lithography, that results in a two-layered paper support. Chine is the French word for China, referring to the fact that the thin paper originally used with this technique was imported from China. In addition to China, paper was also imported from India or Japan. Collé is the French word for “”glued.”
Artist and educator Chunwoo Nam was born in Seoul, Korea and holds a B.F.A. degree from the University of Hong-Ik, Korea; studied fine art lithography at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and received his M.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Hosted by PARC Editions.
