About Kiln

Kiln is a restaurant and bar led by Chef Mitch Orr, sitting atop Ace Hotel Sydney, 18 stories above Surry Hills. Awarded a Chef’s Hat and New Restaurant of the Year at the 2023 Good Food Awards, Kiln showcases an innovative-yet-unpretentious approach to cooking, taking dishes in novel directions and gleefully destroying the high-low dining dichotomy.

About Ace Hotel Sydney

Ace Hotel Sydney lives in a rejuvenated, hundred-year-old Heritage Federation Warehouse building — home to the first brick kiln in Australia. Inspired by the vibrant neighbourhood, Ace Sydney is a communal space that offers casual, considered accommodations, designed with care by Flack Studio. Drawing inspiration from architect Robin Boyd’s paradigm-shifting book, The Australian Ugliness, the paintings of Indigenous Australian artist Albert Namatjira and the building site’s legacy of pottery and ceramic creation, Flack Studio has conjured a hotel that’s a deep homage to Australia. Inside the hotel, find original pieces by celebrated Australian artists, including Nadia Hernandez, Nell, Julia Gutman, Jason Phu and more.
